Meet The Team: Lisa Crowther, Proof Reading Team Manager

At Carter Brown, we firmly believe that the key to our success lies in the extraordinary individuals who make up our team. They are the driving force behind our achievements, consistently surpassing expectations with their exceptional skills, unwavering dedication, and innovative thinking.

To give you an insider’s perspective into the remarkable people who make up the team here at Carter Brown, we are thrilled to present our Meet The Team series.

In each installment, we will showcase one team member, offering a personal interview that shares insight into their journey and day to day role within the company.

Say ‘Hello’ to our Proof Reading Team Manager, Lisa

We caught up with Lisa to hear all about her journey so far.

What are your role and responsibilities?

“My core role is overseeing the work of Carter Brown’s QA team and ensuring that, as far as possible, every report leaving the service fulfils its brief in terms of answering the questions the instructing parties have posed. Day to day, I allocate the team’s reading work, support with any queries and ensure that we are on top of submission dates with the ultimate aim of preventing delay for cases. Mixed in with that, I provide support to experts on case-specific issues, troubleshoot potential issues and work with team members on their own individual development plans. People also tend to come to me with any novel queries they may have!”

What’s the thing you love most about working at Carter Brown?

Gaaaahhh – it’s hard to pin it down to one thing but the people I work with at Carter Brown are amazing; we have such a great, funny, talented, hard-working, well-motivated and caring team. They make Carter Brown a great place to work. When I walked through the doors for the first time seventeen years ago (!), one of the things that really struck me is how we were actively encouraged to get involved and find out more, it didn’t matter if it actively fell within your job role. It’s on the back of this ‘get involved’ culture that we have grown and weathered a number of storms in the sector; I am really proud to continue to drive that. I still learn something new every day and am never so arrogant as to think that I know it all”

What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?

“Outside of work, I love spending time with my three very tall sons and my husband. We are a foodie family so a lot of our plans revolve around what we’re eating where and when. In spite of the amount of reading I do at work, I love to read to relax; this can be anything from an autobiography to a pacy thriller. I am a very fast reader and once I am engrossed, my ears get switched off! As my middle son is off to uni next year, I can also be found wandering various campuses around the country at the weekends! I am a serial planner so as soon as one outing/holiday/event is over, I’ll be moving on to plan another”

What is something surprising about you?

“I am surprisingly good at Tetris; one of the benefits of my first babysitting job at 14 was open access to a SNES!”

Who would be your ideal dinner guest and what would you serve them?

“Maybe Bill Bryson; I have always loved his books, particularly those about language like ‘Mother Tongue’. As a fellow language nerd, I think we’d have a lot to talk about. My sons tell me that my macaroni cheese is ‘top tier’, so I’d see what Bill thinks to it”

The team wouldn’t be same without you Lisa!
